A wonderful day

I thoroughly enjoyed my quiet celebration of a milestone in my writing life yesterday. There’ve been a lot of milestones in the last year and I enjoyed all of them. I’d go on in a deep, thoughtful way about this, but I don’t have it in me right now. Which reminds me, I have a new release but I didn’t update the newsletter. I have it about half done but I’m not really up to making jokes about Elvis and UFOs. Sad, but there you have it. So I’ll finish it up and send it out late when I can. Sorry, but being 9 months pregnant and doing zippy promotions don’t go well together!

Today is my birthday and I’m enjoying the dozen red roses my husband brought me. I hope everybody out there is enjoying the wonderful things in their world.

Legendary Tails II is officially on sale today! AND the winner is…

Jenny! Congratulations, Jenny, and happy reading on the longest day of the year.

Thanks to everybody who participated in yesterday’s surprise blog giveaway. You can still get your very own copy in either ebook or paperback at Ellora’s Cave or in paperback at your favorite bookstore. Sadly I won’t be able to get to a bookstore to see it on the shelves with my own eyes until this weekend, but I can admire it from afar with the miracle of internet.

Have a happy solstice, and a happy birthday to my dad today!

Did I mention I’m wildly excited? Today is the first day there’s a paperback in major bookstores across the nation with my name on it! WOW!

It’s the day before the solistice…

Which means Ellora’s Cavemen Legendary Tails II will officially release on Tuesday! Yay! The solstice will actually happen at 2:46 a.m. EDT, which makes it more a middle of the night event, and I will probably be asleep. But when I get up, I will celebrate with you all by announcing the winner of today’s surprise Blog Giveaway!

How to enter: Answer the trivia question and email it to me via the Contact tab on this site. I’ll do a drawing from the names who submit correct entries and some lucky reader will get a copy of Legendary Tails II!

Here’s the question; what tarot deck does Lucy use? (Hint: read the excerpt to find the answer)

And here’s a nice quote about my story Love Spell from Romance Reviews Today: “Whew! Talk about a steamy romance. Love Spell definitely fits the bill. Ms. Teglia packs quite a bit of emotion, passion, and desire in this story about two people who want each other but just can’t seem to get on with it. Mitch is alpha through and through and once he gets a green light from Lucy, whoa, watch out! This bad boy is gonna get his woman.” – Sinclair Reid & Terrie Figueroa

Father’s day and happily ever afters

The father in this house is cuddling with the toddler, who evidently wore herself out racing up and down the halls playing with her balloon. The two of them make quite a father/daughter picture. Happy father’s day to all the fathers out there enjoying time with their children.

Suzanne has an interesting topic on RTB today; what makes a Happily Ever After? After some thought, I’ve realized it’s not how it ends so much as what happens leading to the end that defines happily ever after for me. If the characters are no different and haven’t made any changes at the end, then it doesn’t matter if the story ends with “I love you, marry me”; I don’t believe in the happy ending. But when I see the characters take some action, make some decision or some change that shows that they are following through on the fact that love has changed their lives, then I believe in the happily ever after.

It’s not about how long they’ve known each other, the time period the story covers, or any other outside detail. It’s all about what’s happening on the inside with these people. When they acknowledge that something fundamental has changed and accept it, they’ve made the internal trip to happily ever after. Exterior changes just reflect what’s changed on the inside. If I see a couple “commit” in a romance without the internal commitment clearly demonstrated, that’s a book I close thinking, “I give it a month.”

Mr. Impossible

Spent yesterday timing contractions, popping Nifedipine and reading Mr. Impossible. Guess which I enjoyed most? Yes, Mr. Impossible, by Loretta Chase! I’m really enjoying this series and looking forward to the next installment.

Mr. Impossible features the hellion younger son who meets his match in a brainy widow. I loved the wit, the dialog, the pacing, the characters and of course I was into all the Egyptian stuff. Mr. Impossible is not what he seems; he has layers. The widow is not what she seems, either. She has secrets. Watching these two discover themselves and each other is more than half the fun of the book, although all the intrigue and adventure is pretty fun stuff, too. Corrupt officials, kidnappings and murders provide plenty of action for this “something must happen” junkie. (I’m one of those people who cannot sit through a weepy drama where Nothing Happens except angst, angst, angst. Angst is not plot. It might be motivation, but it gets boring fast.) Also, the mongoose was cute.

I found Mr. Impossible a fast, fun read and just the thing to occupy my mind happily. I’m putting it next to my other Chase books, keepers all.
