It’s Friday! And I’ve got a plan.

Today I re-evaluated my projects to do for 06 and put some things on the back burner. I didn’t initially know how my Samhain series would go over, or if it would happen at all beyond the first two books, so I had some other things planned. Things which, as I said, are now going to the back burner.

I also took to heart Jordan’s post about fears and strengths and Jo Leigh’s post about fear and decided it was high time to tackle Secret Project A. I may even work up some sample chapters of Secret Project B. But A is what I’m going to hit when I turn in Miss Lonely Hearts, I’ve decided. It’s first person, it’s single title, it’s probably going to be hard, but after Wolf and Beast, I’m not as scared of hard. I’m just going to need lots of brownies and coffee. And I’ll make “All Star” by Smash Mouth my anthem.

I may whimper here from time to time, but I am going to double-dog-dare do it. I will nail that sucker. How hard can it be? (Stop laughing, Dad and Steve.) The husband is making a dummy cover for me to use as a visual aid. And I’ve got plenty of dutch chocolate courage.

Today, though, I get back to work on Miss Lonely Hearts because the deadline hasn’t gone away and that brilliant plot twist I thought up won’t work itself in.

Catalyst gets some love

Two new reviews of Catalyst are in! 4 cups of coffee from Coffeetime Romance, and a terrific review from Joyfully Reviewed.

“These two characters are so very likable right from the beginning of the story. Scott is almost too good to be true, and Veronica is no where near as plain as she thinks she is. They have their ups and downs, but in the end find true love with each other. The author tells their story so well, the reader will not be able to put this one down.” – Maura, Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance

“Catalyst was a wonderfully well-written, absolutely darling, love story. Scott was sexy and shy at the same time and I adored him. Veronica cracked me up several times while reading. Especially when she would think of new names to call Scott like “Mr. Devastatingly Handsome.” Catalyst is the first book I have ever read by Ms. Teglia, and it won’t be the last.” – Talia Ricci, Joyfully Reviewed

Happy happy happy. I need to get some smileys or something over here.

Thank you

Edited to add: yay, the bookstore is back online!

Due to issues with server traffic, the Samhain bookstore went down yesterday evening. They’re still working on bringing it back up. Thank you all for your enthusiasm in shopping with Samhain (or trying to) and please be patient as it gets back online. The Vikings still want to go home with you! Not to mention all those other great books. (I don’t know about you guys, but I want every single one of them.)

The feedback on The Gripping Beast from those who already bought and read theirs is…unbelievable. Beyond my wildest expectations. I was terrified this book would tank and the rest of the series would be shot down. So terrified I didn’t even advertise the series, while I held my breath and waited to see the reactions. Not only do readers tell me they love it, they want to know answers to these questions. Which I will post here:

Q. Will there be more books?
A. Yes. The Gripping Beast is the first of 7 planned books altogether.

Q. Will Dane have his own story?
A. Yes. (And no, I can’t promise the heroine’s name will be Michelle, Michelle.)

Q. Will Harold have his own story?
A. Yes. Harold and Gudred’s story will be a true historical set in the Viking Age, not a time-travel.

Q. Will all 7 books be with Samhain?
A. Yes. At least, that’s the plan. Miss Lonely Hearts, a connected book, is contracted and will be out May 16. Dane’s book should be later in the year, not yet contracted but expected. And judging by the reactions, the sooner the better.

Here’s feedback from fellow author NJ Walters, posted with her permission:
“The Gripping Beast was absolutely incredible. I laughed, I cried, I cheered! I’ve always known you were incredibly talented, but this is even beyond that!

The story seemed to flow effortlessly. You’ve really found your voice. It’s only a matter of time until you’re on the New York Times Best Sellers list! And I mean that sincerely. I thought it when I read Dangerous Games, but now I know it for sure. You have an amazing talent and an incredible gift! Congratulations on another winner!”

Before NJ quit to become an author herself, she was a bookseller for many years. So coming from her, I can only say…well, nothing. Pretty much speechless and floored.

Anyway. It’s frustrating that the bookstore is down, but it’ll be back up soon, so please don’t give up. And since the series really is going to fly (thank you thank you thank you) I have a lot of work to do.

Meanwhile, NJ has a new book out later today (and we’ll just cross our fingers for the EC server). If you loved Christina’s Tapestry, you will love Bakra Bride. I got to read an ARC of BB and it’s wonderful. I love this world and can’t wait for the next book set in it. (And somebody else has to write them, hahaha!)

The latest tacky edition of The Teglia Tattler!

Time-Travel Proven Possible: Interview with Stephen Hawking
Charlene Teglia: Hello, Professor Hawking. I’m so glad you could speak with us today about time travel and why it works in my new book, The Gripping Beast, available today from Samhain Publishing.
Stephen Hawking: Excuse me. I thought we were speaking about my book, A Brief History of Time.
CT: Um, no. I realize your book is important, but so is mine. At least, to people who want to read about Vikings, time travel, rock music, Norse gods, and hot sex.
SH: We could discuss my work on black holes, then.
CT: So about how I explained time travel in my book –
SH: How did you get this number?

Right, there you have it, why time travel works in The Gripping Beast, straight from the professor himself. Or I’m sure he would have explained it. Eventually. Meanwhile, read all about it for yourself! The Gripping Beast is now on sale at Samhain Publishing.

B&B Owner Inspired by Men With Tools
Alexis Fleming loves men and their tools, which is why she took time away from her busy days running a B&B with her husband to write about Stud Finders, Inc. Check out this sizzling read for a hero who delivers plenty of satisfaction. And he looks great in jeans. But wait, there’s more! Watch for another scorcher, A Handyman’s Best Tool, coming soon from Samhain.

Bigfoot Ravished Me, Romance Author Claims
Shannon Stacey was supposed to talk to us about her beautiful traditional romance, Forever Again, now available from Samhain Publishing. It’s a heartwarming story of love and forgiveness and mistakes and second chances. Unfortunately, Shannon only had this to say:

“Bigfoot loves me. It may have seemed like just a cheap encounter in the New England woods where I was researching the setting of Forever Again, but it was true love. And he’ll be back.”

And then she said something about the size of his feet. I’m pretty sure she was talking about his feet.

Spicy Advice
Dear Spicy
I want to read something different. Really different. I love fantasy, but I don’t want to read yet another tale about a man, a wizard, a halfling, a dwarf and an elf who go on a quest together. I want something truly original. With romance. And hot sex. Tell me this book exists!
