Proofing Wicked Hot

Ah, proofing time. My last chance to decide whether or not to reinsert those two lines I deleted in copyedits and have felt bad about ever since. Also my last chance to tweak the text for the Animal Attraction teaser.

Edited to add: Oh! This is so cool! The title page has flames. Heh. Proofing on…

Happy Easter!

Eggs, hard-boiled and dyed with decorative wax crayon designs and decals added. Cupcakes, baked and frosted, sprinkles on top added by toddler. Spring floral arrangement centerpiece, purchased and cat-proof (in the refrigerator). Easter is a go. Dinner with the family today, and I mean ALL the family. Should be insane. I’m hoping to get inspiration for describing the houseful of werewolves from the group activity.

The world in words

Writing is the process of trying to create a world in words. You write it into being, a literary Genesis, and people it, and breathe life into it, and the life is in the words. The right words make it real. If you get the words right, there is a world of emotion and conflict and joy and struggle, with rain drops on the windowsills and breath forming visible puffs of mist in the cool air. If you get the words wrong, you have a cardboard construct and the things that would make it real are missing. Nobody breathes, no rain falls. If the devil is in the details, the world is in the words.
