Yes, this is another 5 Things post.
1. March contest at All Romance Ebooks this month! See the nifty graphic on the sidebar. The grand prize is an iPod Touch filled with 31 books and a $100 gift certificate. To play, click the graphic, go to ARE, and do the daily treasure hunt. Daily prize; free download (by the day's featured author) and a $10.00 OmniBucks certificate.
2. Also this month at ARE, Samhain books are 25% off. If you are missing any of my Samhain backlist, shop and save!
3. We have stealth deer. I never see them, even though they traipse up and down the driveway and I can see the hoof prints they leave behind. This morning one of them knocked over the bird bath. (Delinquent deer tracks are visible leading up to and away from the scene of the crime.) But do I ever see these deer, despite having an office window facing the site of all these deer tracks? No. They are stealth deer.
4. More organic seed is on the way to round out our garden planning. If you're curious, we're doing a vegetable garden, an herb garden, and a butterfly/hummingbird garden. Will probably construct a hoop house over the veggies to keep stealth deer from turning it into their personal buffet. If you are looking for non-genetically tampered seeds, shop carefully. I just discovered that Burpee's was recently bought by Monsanto, so I'm really glad I got organic seeds. Next year I'll buy from another source.
5. This morning has been a total Monday so far. I plan to take it out on my fictional characters, mwahahaha.
LOL Stealth deer...I like
LOL Stealth deer...I like that. You'll have to try to catch them in the act. *g*
I know! I wish I'd seen the
I know! I wish I'd seen the deer vs. bird bath episode. I have my camera ready for the next photo opp.
3) At least they haven't
3) At least they haven't discovered any shubbery you might have. My aunt and her husband live in CO (in the mtns) and hardly ever have to trim their bushes (it can all be gone overnight). My mom and my aunt also got chased by a moose, but that's a different story. :)
4) You might try looking for heirloom or heritage seeds. I believe Barbara Kingsolver gave a list of resources in her book Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.
5) Definitely a Monday, first day back from my vacation... and I woke up with no voice. Made calling into work interesting.
I think they have enough to
I think they have enough to graze on that they don't completely denude the scenery. *g*
The Animal, Vegetable Miracle website does have lots of great links and I think there was a list in the back of the book to heirloom seed sources, too. I'll be lining up new sources. I'm sad about Burpee, my parents used their seeds in the big family garden we always had while I was growing up.
I hope you didn't have to use Morse code to call in. Here's to the return of your voice and the end of Monday.
I miss my Colorado deer.
I miss my Colorado deer. They certainly weren't stealth. The neighbor would illegally feed them deer corn. They were spoiled, fat and practically pettable. They'd nearly walk into the front door to get at my plants. Unfortunately, they also attracted predators. We tried never to let the cat out, but the one time she escaped, she was quickly eaten. R.I.P. Sugar.

PS Spam filter still catches me for some reason

Monica, I have no idea why Mollom lets some spam through and objects to you. It's better than no spam filtering, but it has some serious short-comings. I'm so sorry about your kitty.
