13 things I like about Miss Lonely Hearts

Since the Oct. 30 release date is looming (already!), I thought I’d dedicate this 13 list to MLH.

1. I got to write about a place that gets more rain than the Hoh valley.
2. I like the way the bar serves as a community gathering place
3. I like the characters
4. I like stories about con artists and con games
5. I like the everybody-plotting-against-everbody-else dynamic
6. I like Alaska
7. I like Jason
8. I like the humor
9. I like Holgas
10. I like the ugly dog
11. I like the hot stuff
12. I liked revisiting the Sirens, even peripherally
13. I love the cover!

    A Holga is a cheap plastic camera that leaks light, but because each one is unique and produces interesting effects (and they’re cheap) they took off as art cameras. I have one. It’s fun. : ) In MLH, Jason gives one to Cass, which to me shows that he “gets” her. Much more touching than if he’d bought her something expensive.

    Er. Hopefully that’s not spoiler territory…

    Ann, it’ll be for sale as an ebook from Samhain and you can also pre-order it now from Books On Board. It’ll be in print sometime in 2008, at which point it will be in stores.

    This sounds like a great setting and such a fun story. Like it’s the kind of story where even the secondary characters become primary to a certain extent. And I’ll second the book cover LOVE! I just lurve this cover!

    Patrice, is it not the best cover ever? Well, okay, your cowboy on Anticipation is pretty hot, too. *g* I had a great time with the setting, and keeping track of all these characters and their goals maxed out my bandwidth big-time!
