I’m planning to make some appearances. I know, it’s shocking to me, too. But four years into my publishing career, it really is time to get out and meet some of my writing friends, agent, editor, agency and publisher personnel in person. And, you know, sign some books.
So, I’m planning a local booksigning event for my two July releases (Wicked Hot, Naughty Nights). I will also be at the RWA Nat’l literacy signing on Wed. night July 30 in SF, and the St. Martin’s Press publisher sponsored signing the following Saturday (Aug. 2) in SF to sign Wicked Hot and tempt you with demonically good reading.
I’m very much looking forward to this, even if it does mean I need to tame my wild tangle of curls, buy some clothes that aren’t jeans or sweats, and possibly even (oh dear heavens) wear some makeup. Of course, after that nobody who knows me will recognize me. Hmm.
Anyway, since making this momentous decision I’ve been scrambling around to sign up here and there for everything connected to the national conference, and I will probably have to find the PAN form and fill it out before they’ll let me into the librarian/bookseller event or PAN workshops. I had one of those back in 2004 when I first sold, and meant to send it in, but child #2 came along and it got buried in my inbox. (Sad but true.)
Are you going to San Fransisco?
We’re supposed to sign up for PAN??? Hand smacks head.
Um, yeah. And I actually had to email the office to find out if a pay stub from my agent’s office constituted proof of eligiblity, since the instructions say to get confirmation from your acquiring editor, and I couldn’t see bothering her for that if I had sufficient proof in my files. (And the answer is yes, by the way, as long as the book’s title on the stub is the same as the title you put on your eligibility form.)
*Sob* Not going. Last year I signed up for the PAN workshops then skipped them all.
Mostly I just networked and hung out with friends.
Amie, networking is a large part of the reason to go. So’s hanging out with friends. : ) Sorry you won’t be there this year!
