First of all, Dara Joy fans, you can still order That Familiar Touch. The web shopping cart’s a little clunky, doesn’t show order status for instance, but you get email confirmation that your order was received and is processing. Being the impatient soul that I am I replied to this email to get an approximate ETA on my book, and it did arrive in a timely manner given the shipping method.

The book itself exceeded expectations. Novellas are challenging, they don’t have the room a novel has to develop characters and that’s especially useful when revisiting series characters, because you want to know all about what they’ve been doing since you last saw them. Dara Joy did a fantastic job in developing the romance between Soosha and Daxan while still catching up with old Matrix of Destiny friends and wrapping it all up in novella length.

The second novella in the book, In Kirkpatrick’s Woods, is just as beautifully developed and underneath the surface story provides an anology for the romance reading experience. For those who are still scratching their heads and wondering why women keep buying romance novels by the bushel, the answer is In Kirpatrick’s Woods.

Wonderful fantasy, wonderful romance, with the humor you expect from Dara Joy. A terrific read I highly recommend.
