Edited to add: yay, the bookstore is back online!

Due to issues with server traffic, the Samhain bookstore went down yesterday evening. They’re still working on bringing it back up. Thank you all for your enthusiasm in shopping with Samhain (or trying to) and please be patient as it gets back online. The Vikings still want to go home with you! Not to mention all those other great books. (I don’t know about you guys, but I want every single one of them.)

The feedback on The Gripping Beast from those who already bought and read theirs is…unbelievable. Beyond my wildest expectations. I was terrified this book would tank and the rest of the series would be shot down. So terrified I didn’t even advertise the series, while I held my breath and waited to see the reactions. Not only do readers tell me they love it, they want to know answers to these questions. Which I will post here:

Q. Will there be more books?
A. Yes. The Gripping Beast is the first of 7 planned books altogether.

Q. Will Dane have his own story?
A. Yes. (And no, I can’t promise the heroine’s name will be Michelle, Michelle.)

Q. Will Harold have his own story?
A. Yes. Harold and Gudred’s story will be a true historical set in the Viking Age, not a time-travel.

Q. Will all 7 books be with Samhain?
A. Yes. At least, that’s the plan. Miss Lonely Hearts, a connected book, is contracted and will be out May 16. Dane’s book should be later in the year, not yet contracted but expected. And judging by the reactions, the sooner the better.

Here’s feedback from fellow author NJ Walters, posted with her permission:
“The Gripping Beast was absolutely incredible. I laughed, I cried, I cheered! I’ve always known you were incredibly talented, but this is even beyond that!

The story seemed to flow effortlessly. You’ve really found your voice. It’s only a matter of time until you’re on the New York Times Best Sellers list! And I mean that sincerely. I thought it when I read Dangerous Games, but now I know it for sure. You have an amazing talent and an incredible gift! Congratulations on another winner!”

Before NJ quit to become an author herself, she was a bookseller for many years. So coming from her, I can only say…well, nothing. Pretty much speechless and floored.

Anyway. It’s frustrating that the bookstore is down, but it’ll be back up soon, so please don’t give up. And since the series really is going to fly (thank you thank you thank you) I have a lot of work to do.

Meanwhile, NJ has a new book out later today (and we’ll just cross our fingers for the EC server). If you loved Christina’s Tapestry, you will love Bakra Bride. I got to read an ARC of BB and it’s wonderful. I love this world and can’t wait for the next book set in it. (And somebody else has to write them, hahaha!)
