Viking invasion has begun!

The Gripping Beast is now for sale! Currently 10% off but I don’t think that’s going to last. Wheeee, the Vikings are here, the Vikings are here!

Oh, yes. You can get it here and read the first review now posted here.

Viiiiiiiikings!

Edited to add: oh, crap, I forgot to post The Tattler issue for this release. Err. BRB.

Mixed bag Monday

1. Go Seahawks!

2. The Gripping Beast is out tomorrow. Holy cow. I can’t wait!

3. JERR has reviewed Wolf. The review will appear in the next edition of the JERR newsletter, which comes out Feb. 4. Conveniently 4 days before Wolf’s release date. Gives me way too long to angst over it, but…reviewed by JERR! Woot!

4. Everybody is better now. What a relief.

5. PBW has published a nonfiction ebook, Way Of The Cheetah. I can’t help hoping for a sequel, Your Cheetah Heart.

Edited to add: I should be working, but I have My Book Comes Out Tomorrow Syndrome. I think I’m going to focus on getting business stuff taken care of today. I have things to put together for an upcoming RT ad. I’ve already sent the husband a list of website updates to do. I have a few bookplates promised that I need to print out, sign, and mail. Might as well do these sorts of tasks when I can’t focus on the book I’m supposed to be writing now because I have MBCOT Syndrome.

I’m pondering doing a Viking giveaway but I haven’t thought up anything brilliant and creative. I may wait and do a big contest when I get the author’s print copies.

Better!

Much better today. Still have the sore throat, but otherwise much, much better. Good, because it’s amazing, but these books don’t write themselves. I don’t know why, but they don’t. Stubborn books.

Got the coffee brewed and I’m gearing up for the day.

aaaiiiiieeeeeeee

We all have the flu here. Or something. Whatever it is, it’s heinous. I don’t normally whine about things in the blog, but I’m whining today. I feel terrible. On the bright side, the baby is perfectly healthy. It’s the rest of us who are in rough shape.

Also on the bright side, I had a bright idea about Miss Lonely Hearts yesterday. One of those moments of inspiration followed by lots of labor to incorporate, but one good idea can go a long ways. If I hadn’t put my butt in the chair for three days doing grunt work I can guarantee I would not have had the inspiration, so there’s a life lesson there. Or something.

Today I’m going to drink lots and lots of hot liquids, and read a good book. Happy Saturday to all of you out there.

When Sally Met Wanda, and Vikings!

I’m over the whole Sally vs. Wanda thing. For those who don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, it’s Shannon’s RTB column of a couple of days ago, permalinked in my blog entry of the same day. In a nutshell, we have Sally the mediocre but popular author outselling Wanda the superior author who spends little time promoting herself and most of her time writing good books. And this scenario upset me for a moment but I’m over it now. Because it just doesn’t matter.

Really. It has nothing to do with me or my books. I’m writing the stories I have to write, and while I understand the realities of today’s marketplace, that without self-promotion nobody will know about my fabulous books, I can only do what I can do in terms of time and money. And beyond that, fuggedaboudit. Write the next book.

Besides, I have a little prediction. Sally, whoever she is, will not stand the test of time. 10 years from now I doubt she’ll still be publishing at all, while Wanda, like the tortoise vs. the hare, will keep steadily moving ahead as word of mouth spreads and her reader base builds.

Vikings…wow, only three more days. Wow, wow, wow. I’m so excited, it’s a wonder I’ve gotten anything done this week, although I’ve been making good progress on MLH and ALS. Speaking of ALS, I’d intended to have it done by the end of this month, but the Vikings wore me out. I needed some down time after that project. It’s still possible that I’ll finish it off more or less on time, but if not, okay. It’s more important to me that the story doesn’t show signs of author fatigue. MLH is on track for delivery on time and in fact running ahead of schedule. But…the Vikings are coming! Woooot!
