I have my playlist for Damned! Putting the music together is always a big step in the process.
Devil Went Down to Georgia, Charlie Daniels
Livin’ La Vida Loca, Ricky Martin
Devil Inside, INXS
What You Need, INXS
Something About You, INXS
Eli’s Coming, Laura Nyro
And here’s my break-time brain candy: Mentos! And Diet Coke! Make sure to play with the music on.
Ooh, I always love playlists. Can you actually listen to music while you write? I can’t. I start singing along….and forget what the hell I’m supposed to be writing.
INXS…mmm. Sexy sexy music.
Since I’ve been working on a western romance, and a mystery set on a ranch, I’ve been listening to tons of country. Current faves are Amarillo Sky by Jason Aldean, Ladies Love Country Boys by Trace Adkins and Leave The Pieces by The Wreckers
More than you wanted to know, eh?
Hi Lori! I love Trace Adkins. Sounds like great stuff you’re working on!
I can’t actually listen while I work. I listen before I write to get in the right mindset for the story and throughout the day, it helps keep it alive in my head. But during writing, I find music too distracting!
Whew. Glad its not just me that can’t be distracted by tunes while I’m working. I do find myself listening to the type of music my characters do to get me in the mood. While I”m working on Julie, my mystery heroine, I listen to hard rock, because she is a rocker chick – although she *did* just buy a big ol’ Ford pick up.
The only time I get to listen to music is in the car. My 10 year old likes pretty much everything I do, so the I don’t have to put up with the eye rolls and the teen girls switching the station every five seconds 🙂
What did you listen to while you were writing Night Music?
I’m so glad mine are too young to eye-roll at my music choices! *g*
Night Music: A Little Night Music by Mozart, Behind the Walls of Sleep by The Smithereens, Possum Kingdom by Toadies. I think those are the main ones.
Dude, you and I were so separated at birth. I LOVE the Smithereens.
“I’m not gonna lie…” I liked the Toadies. What ever happened to them?
My daughters all play string instruments so they’ve been listening to classical music their whole lives. Which means when they get to choose what to listen to, it ain’t Mozart 🙂 But like their father and me, they have diverse tastes. They’re not too sold on rap. I don’t know if its because we live in the midwest, but that urban type music doesn’t appeal to them. With the exception of Gnarls Barkley. What the hell? I don’t like that AT ALL. Ditto for Black-eyed Peas. Yuck.
Okay, best rock song EVER…go!
Rap isn’t big around here, either. Country, yep. Rap, no. *g*
Tough question. Rock of Ages, Def Lepard is right up there. But I’d have to vote for Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen. That leaves out the Eagles, though, which just seems wrong…
My choice? Back In Black, AC/DC…….which is my ringtone 🙂
Oh, you like the hard stuff. *ggg*
