Here’s something I must share, courtesy of Tracy who changed my life by telling me. Screen time doesn’t just tire your eyes, it has an effect on your brain. Wakes it up. Which is great in the morning, maybe, but not so great at night, because at night your brain has to do the very important job of making your supply of cortisol. If it doesn’t do this, you start off the next day already depleted and stressed. So, put away the computer half an hour before bed. Do something else. Then go to sleep.
I tend to write until my eyeballs cross and I can’t focus, put away the laptop, and pass out. No wonder that habit led to bad nights. I am reformed now. No screen time half an hour before bed.
Gosh, I’m glad to help! I’m trying to work on shutting down the computer before I go to bed too. Here’s to getting a full night (what’s that?) of sleep. 🙂
Tracy, a full night’s sleep might not happen until the kids are in college. : O Which makes it even more important to get what we can.
Iknow what you mean. I’ve started turning off the computer around 9 PM, otherwise I’ll check my emails or my groups and the next thing it’s bedtime and I can’t shut my mind down. LOL
Yeah, it really does help that racing brain syndrome!
