Having a very stressful week. Those times when nothing goes right, it’s hard to remember that when things don’t go right they are the wrong things. This has always proven true in my life. And I’ve never benefited from trying to make the wrong thing keep working.
At times like this it’s good to remember that control is an illusion anyway. And when things change, it can lead to something better. Certainly it’ll be better than the thing that wasn’t working.
Now I’m going to go clean my office and make bread, in between trying to satisfy my children’s demands for more math and science. I swear if their entire curriculum was math and science, they’d be content. Must find science projects to keep them busy all summer.
Ugh, mine love math and science too. My one son reads his Astronomy textbook for fun and I have to keep up with him. Darling angel that he is. Heh.
Why can’t they love grammar and composition? *sniff* Why, at 37, do I need to know how to find the area of a trapezoid? It’s an easy one, yeah, but still, my life is not so filled with trapezoids that I walk around with a pad, making sure I know their area, like I’m the trapezoid police.
What level are your hatchlings? I have many science project books, maybe I can point you to one? Exploding or non?
(my bread is in the machine)
And you are SO right with the control thing.
Oh, they love writing, too. 3 yr old is always “writing a serious poem” or “working on her novel”. 5 yr old writes Hello Kitty fan fic. But man, they are math and science junkies. I’d love rec’s for science projects. Exploding okay, we can do those outdoors. We did get a telescope and plan to take ’em out to the observatory next month. That’ll work for those nights when they won’t go to bed, but daytime projects are needed. ; )
Volcano creating is always a good show stopper. (((Hugs))) on the stress. Hang in there. Enjoy your bread.
Jordan, the baking soda volcano is classic.
The stress will pass. I’m consoling myself with bread. *g*
My daughter is like that to Charli. Anything to not do LA. She hates it.
On the other hand my niece loves it, and is good at it, and her math and sciences she hates.
It’s a good thing we are so versatile with our homeschooling aren’t we?
What kind of bread? I have the day off and would love to make bread (of course I also need to order new glasses and get my car cleaned inside and out, so maybe next time).
Vivi, being versatile is the reason they do so well. Individualized learning!
I made whole wheat with honey. I was thinking about getting crazy with cinnamon raisin bread, but maybe tomorrow.
That sounds yummy. 🙂
Yummy on the bread. I’m coming to your house. *g*
Sorry you’ve had a stressful week. Bread will help.
NJ, bread is therapy! And come over any time. *g*
Have you tried the Usborne books’ site? See here for an award they won on a book related to how to make and do science projects: http://www.usborne.com/catalogue/science_prize.asp?css=1
I LOVE their books in general. 🙂
Also this site is super cool and could give you some age appropriate ideas. http://home.howstuffworks.com/kids-activities.htm

Oooh, thanks Patrice! GREAT resources! The best thing I’ve come up with so far is how to build a toad house (from Green Hour). My kids will thank you.
