I’m currently plagued by two kinds of bugs. One is building anthills all over the yard. I tried experimenting with vinegar and boiling water, but it’s going to take tons to cover the entire yard, which is about what it’ll take to discourage the invasion.
The other is on my laptop, and it’s either hardware or software. In other words, if installing a new operating system doesn’t do it, I will have another silicone corpse gained in the service of my publishing career. Less drastic fixes have been tried, and still weird glitches and crashes happen.
I seem to be hard on my writing machines. The keys break. The screens go dim. The hard drives die. And then they go to Silicone Heaven.
I really wanted this one to last longer, so I’m hoping it’s just a bug and that a new install will cure it. I haven’t broken any keys or cracked the screen. Stay with me, laptop. Don’t go towards the light. We’ll get some software penicillin for that bug and beat it down.
“Do not go softly into that vacuum tube night, but rage, rage against the dying electric light!”
Ouch, would lady bugs help with the infestation? Not sure what to say about the laptop. Good luck?
I don’t think ladybugs do any good against ants. We do have a very healthy ladybug population here, and it’s not stopping them. They do eat the aphids and protect plants, which is helpful.
I think a new OS will help the laptop. This one came pre-loaded with all kinds of crap that’s probably causing 90% of the problem, and the only way to truly clean that out is to reinstall.
You have a MAC right? Wierd, I’ve only ever had one real problem with mine, and that was when the hard drive died on the iMac a couple months ago. I agree though, sometimes you just need to re-install to clean it up. 🙂
No, when I replaced my last dead laptop I got a Vaio because the hardware is so solid and I got one on sale for a total steal. I do believe my problem is Windows. And proprietary Sony stuff. And pre-loaded Adobe software that was trial and then buy after expiration which I never used, but has always caused me trouble with me free Adobe stuff. So the plan is to wipe and install Linux.
